BuildWithVee was founded in 2021 with a mission to empower and equip the next generation of African tech leaders through structured learning, mentorship, and leadership development.
The vision began with Victoria Opene, a former Meta Developer Circles Lead, who was deeply involved in organizing community trainings on Meta technologies such as Spark AR, Virtual Reality, and Facebook APIs. Her commitment to mentoring young people earned her the Most Inspiring Lead Award from Meta, recognizing her impact in helping aspiring developers find their path in tech.
Motivated by the number of young Africans who wanted to learn but lacked access, Victoria and a group of innovators founded BuildWithVee — a platform dedicated to helping people start and grow sustainable careers in technology.
Over the past three years, BuildWithVee has:
- Trained over 1,500 learners across Africa in Data Analytics, Graphic Design, Digital Marketing, and Technical Interview Preparation.
- Hosted 25+ virtual and in-person career webinars connecting learners with professionals from top tech companies.
- Partnered with community organizations and hubs to run mentorship and learning challenges, including the #100DaysOfCode Program.
- Built a thriving learning community of developers, designers, and aspiring professionals across Nigeria and Africa.
